It gives the design a quiet, sculptural centre. A gemstone can be set here instead on request, adding colour and giving Dahlia a different expression while keeping the flower itself recognisable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs Elizabeth worked on Petit, the idea became more personal. She began to imagine a daughter or granddaughter wearing the smaller Dahlia studs while her mother or grandmother wears one of the larger Dahlia designs. Each has her own jewel, yet the same flower appears across the generations.
