It became the starting point for both the design and the name Estella, a subtle reference to \u003ci\u003estellata\u003c\/i\u003e, Latin for ‘star-shaped’. I translated its form into filigree, building the flower petal by petal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach petal is filled with tiny filigree elements that I make individually by hand. I first create the fine filigree wire myself from silver or gold, then shape it into the small elements that make up the design. One by one, I place them inside the frame before soldering the flower together, with a traditional tomatillo at its centre. One of the things I love most about filigree is that the closer you look, the more you see: all the tiny details, the individual elements and the work that goes into bringing them together.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe open structure makes Estella surprisingly light to wear.
