Astraea was made for a ring like this. The flower takes on its largest form, rising above the hand with a deep wine-red garnet at its centre. The rounded petals give the design a distinctly feminine sensuality, while the scale brings a touch of extravagance. It is bold, certainly, but the beauty lies just as much in the delicacy of all that filigree.

The flower is built entirely by hand in two layers, each with a very different character. The lower layer remains open, allowing glimpses of skin between the gold. Above it, the filigree becomes richer and more intricate, with the upper petals shaped in alto relieve to create their sculptural, three-dimensional form. Light finds its way through the open structure below and between the raised petals, bringing out the depth of the design every time the hand moves.

At the centre, the garnet brings a completely different kind of richness. Its dark wine red against the warmth of the gold feels wonderfully sensual, almost seductive. The stone draws the eye into the flower, while the filigree surrounding it catches the light in hundreds of fine golden lines. From a distance, Astraea is a striking golden flower on the hand. Up close, the craftsmanship begins to take over.

Created to accompany the Astraea Garnet Earrings, the ring gives the same flower an entirely different presence on the hand. There is something irresistible about seeing Astraea at this scale, with all that fine filigree made gloriously, unapologetically large.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
