This necklace gives Camila a completely different presence. Eighteen millimetre faceted carnelian beads encircle the neck in deep reds, burnt orange and flashes of amber, catching the light beautifully as they move. Sixteen tiny vermeil beads are scattered between the stones, carrying touches of gold through the necklace and towards the filigree flower at its centre.

Camila Bloom sits among the carnelian at the same generous scale as the Bloom earrings. Against such saturated colour, the filigree is especially beautiful. Fine golden lines trace every petal, with glimpses of the stones appearing through the open spaces of the flower. From a distance, you see the richness of the whole necklace; come closer and the intricacy of Camila begins to emerge.

The filigree continues beyond the flower. I made the bail especially for this necklace, followed by a toggle clasp formed by hand from twisted filigree wire. I love that these details are there. They make the craftsmanship part of the entire necklace, right through to the fastening at the back.

There is something wonderfully opulent about carnelian at this scale. The 18 mm stones create an extraordinary sweep of colour around the neck, with Camila held at the centre in gold. It is a statement from the moment you see it, and up close the sheer amount of detail and handwork becomes even more apparent.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
