Some jewels ask for more. Camila is one of them. Named after my niece, who has always been more like a younger sister to me, it is a design of particular significance within the collection. Her mother lends her name to Margarita, and while the two flowers were conceived as distinct designs, there is an intimacy between them that mirrors their connection in life.

At its most elaborate, Camila Blossom is an extraordinary piece of filigree. Two flowers unfold beneath the ear in an intricate composition of precious metal and open space, created almost entirely from fine wire. Each tiny element is formed by hand, fitted into its frame and soldered into place. A single pair occupies a full week at my bench.

It is a remarkable amount of work for something that, once worn, appears so effortless. The scale is unapologetically generous, yet the filigree keeps the earrings unexpectedly light. Rather than relying on weight or volume of metal, their presence comes from the sheer intricacy of the workmanship: hundreds of small details coming together to create one sweeping silhouette.

Of all the pieces in the collection, Camila remains one of those closest to me. There is something almost extravagant about giving such a delicate technique this much space. It takes filigree beyond the detail and makes it the jewel itself.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
