The first thing you notice is the colour. Vivid pink silk, warm gold and rubellite come together in a necklace that feels joyful, feminine and impossible to overlook. At its centre sits Dahlia, worked entirely in filigree and set with a faceted Madagascan rubellite whose rich pink colour seems to glow against the silk.

The name Dahlia reaches back to Colombia. Near La Siberia in La Calera, a place tied to generations of family history, Dahlia imperialis grows in the mountain landscape. Known locally as dalia silvestre, the flower became part of the memories attached to this place and eventually found its way into The Secret Garden. Here, surrounded by this extraordinary colour, Dahlia feels especially alive.

The rubellite comes from Mara Gems and originates in Madagascar. Rubellite is one of the most captivating members of the tourmaline family, prized for colours that range from intense pink to saturated red. This particular stone could hardly have found a better companion than the silk. The two seem to draw colour from one another, while the gold filigree brings warmth and definition between them. More about the origin of the rubellite and the people behind its journey can be found under Materials & Gemstones.

The silk itself is part of the pleasure of this necklace. Each cord is individually dyed by an artisan who specialises in silk and can create virtually any colour imaginable. The filigree bail can be made slightly larger on request, allowing Dahlia to slip easily from one silk cord to another. Additional cords can then be ordered separately, making it possible to change the entire character of the necklace simply through colour.

The details continue beyond the front. The bail is also made by hand in filigree, so even the connection between flower and silk becomes part of the craftsmanship. At the back, a small faceted rubellite finishes the extension chain. With the hair swept up, it catches the light at the nape of the neck, one last flash of pink where you might least expect it.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
