Estella Nocturno takes its name from the deep blues that run through the necklace. Lapis lazuli, blue sapphire and London blue topaz come together in subtly changing shades, with the golden Estella flower at the centre. The faceted stones catch the light differently as they move, bringing out new tones of blue each time.

At the heart of Estella is a tomatillo, a traditional form found in the filigree of Mompox. Made by hand from fine wire, its small rounded shape shows just how much detail can be held within filigree. Here, it sits quietly at the centre of the open, star-shaped flower.

There is something I particularly love about gold against such deep shades of blue. In Nocturno, the richness of the gemstones makes the fine golden lines of the filigree stand out even more, while the openness of the flower keeps the piece light and delicate.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
