Estella Selva brings together two crafts that both begin with thread. The Estella flower is built by hand from fine filigree wire, with each small element shaped and placed by me. For the silk cord, I found a woman who hand-rolls and hand-dyes her own cords from pure silk, in almost any colour imaginable. Two very different materials, shaped by two pairs of hands, come together in one jewel.

For Selva, the silk is a deep forest green. Against the darker shade, the gold feels warmer and the fine, open structure of Estella comes beautifully into view. Selva means forest in Spanish, a name that felt entirely natural for this Estella from The Secret Garden.

The flower can be removed from the silk cord and worn with another colour. Each shade changes the character of the piece, from deep and understated to soft or more vibrant, while Estella remains at its centre.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
