With its broad, rounded centre and long, slender petals, Margarita has always had something of a marguerite flower about it. In this version, a faceted kornerupine sits within that generous centre, framed by two layers of finely worked filigree. One size larger than Margarita Peridot, the flower has a slightly different presence while remaining unmistakably Margarita.

The flower is constructed in two complete layers of filigree. The lower petals are filled in jalado, with fine wire shaped and carefully fitted within each form. Above them sits a second flower worked in alto relieve, lifting the upper petals away from the surface before both layers are finally soldered together. From the front, the intricate pattern of the filigree draws the eye inward. Turn the flower slightly and its construction begins to reveal itself, with light moving between the two layers and bringing the relief to life.

At the centre sits a faceted kornerupine from Betroka, Madagascar, sourced through Mara Gems. Kornerupine is genuinely rare and found only in small quantities. Its colour moves between green and blue green, with a naturally bright, glasslike lustre that changes subtly with the light. Set against warm gold, those nuances become especially beautiful, giving Margarita a centre that is quietly unusual.

The Betroka material also has a remarkably clear provenance, from small scale mining in southern Madagascar through local selection and cutting before reaching Mara Gems. The fuller story of the stone, its geological origin and the people involved can be found under Materials & Gemstones.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
