Magnífica is the most elaborate expression of Margarita. Three flowers fall beneath each ear, gradually increasing in size, so the eye travels through layer after layer of filigree. Across the pair there are six flowers, but their construction begins much further back at the workbench. Each one is built from two separate frames: long petals filled in jalado below, with a smaller flower in alto relieve rising above to form the centre. Before the earrings can come together, twelve individual filigree frames and six tomatillos have to be made.

This is where the scale of Magnífica really becomes apparent. More than a full working week goes into a single pair. Even the filigree wire is made in the atelier before the first frame is formed. From there follows a succession of shaping, filling and soldering, with sanding and polishing returning throughout the process as each new layer is added. Only once all the individual elements are finished can the six flowers be assembled and the final polish begin. Within the Margarita line, no other design uses as much silver or has as much surface to finish in vermeil.

There is no gemstone at the centre of these flowers. Instead, each one holds a tomatillo, made from the same fine wire as the surrounding filigree. It is a deliberate choice that keeps the attention on the metalwork itself: the rhythm of the jalado, the raised forms of the alto relieve and the minute variations that come with every component being made by hand.

Then the earrings are worn, and all that carefully constructed architecture begins to move. The three flowers respond separately with every turn of the head, exposing different layers as they shift. Gold catches the light on one petal, disappears into the filigree and returns on another. Magnífica has presence from a distance, but its real richness reveals itself up close, where the hours of work can be read in the structure of every flower.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
