Margarita Medallón takes its name from the way the flower rests against the body, almost like a small medallion. Set on a classic belcher chain, the rounded links give the necklace presence and balance while keeping the focus on the filigree. It gives Margarita a more classic character, with the flower sitting beautifully at the centre of the composition.

The pendant is built in layers using techniques from the Momposina filigree tradition, learned during training in Colombia. The long outer petals are shaped individually and filled in jalado, creating the rich pattern that defines Margarita. Above them, a smaller flower is formed in alto relieve, bringing depth to the centre. A tomatillo sits at the heart, made from the same fine filigree wire.

The belcher chain suits Medallón particularly well. Its rounded links echo the shape of the pendant and give the necklace a strong, elegant line. From a distance, the circular form immediately catches the eye. Closer up, the layers of filigree, the jalado filling and the raised centre reveal just how much detail is held within the flower. Together, the classic chain and intricate filigree give Medallón its own character within the Margarita line.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
