Margarita began with someone I love and a flower that happened to share her name. Its generous shape felt perfect for filigree, and it gradually became one of the recurring flowers in my collection. Much later, I came across the Greek origin of the name, margaritēs, meaning pearl. A rather lovely coincidence for a flower that had already found its way into my jewellery.

The Blossom is Margarita at her most extravagant. A small filigree flower, set with a 4 mm faceted peridot, sits on the ear. From it falls a second, much larger flower, its surface filled almost entirely with intricate filigree and a 6 mm peridot at its centre. There is nothing delicate about its presence. It is generous, golden and made to be seen, yet the closer you look, the more the handwork begins to emerge.

I designed the larger flower to be removable, giving the earring an entirely different character when worn without it. What remains is the Margarita stud, a refined little flower in its own right and also the starting point of the Margarita Peridot Cascade.

I love having these two very different expressions of the same flower. The Cascade falls in long lines of coloured gemstones; the Blossom is all about the richness of gold and filigree. Both begin with exactly the same Margarita.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
