The Astraea Sapphirine studs were designed to be worn in more than one way. At the centre of each filigree flower sits a blue green sapphirine from Mara Gems, originating from Madagascar. Sapphirine is a rare mineral, found in only a small number of places around the world. More about the stone, its provenance and the work of Mara Gems can be found on Materials & Gemstones.

Madagascar appears again in the Cascada through grandidierite, another rare gemstone known for its distinctive blue green colour. Together with spinel and dark blue sapphire, it creates a deep palette of blue, blue green and black, ending in two faceted London Blue Topaz drops. Each gemstone bead is individually secured with fine gold wire using the wire wrapping technique. This allows the stones to move freely, with small touches of gold remaining visible between the darker colours. As the earrings move, different facets catch the light and the colours subtly shift.

The long chrysocolla drop creates a completely different line beneath Astraea. Seven faceted coin shaped chrysocolla beads fall beneath the flower, ending in a freshwater pearl. Their blue green tone connects naturally with the Astraea Sapphirine Necklace, while the soft lustre of the pearl gives the drop an elegant finish.

The studs and detachable drops are also available separately, and other versions can be made on request in different gemstones, colours and lengths. The drops can be worn with Astraea as well as with other suitable studs from the collection. Flowers, gemstones and colours can be combined in different ways, allowing a personal collection to grow gradually over time.

From First Idea to Final Detail

At Diosa del Alma, the person who imagines the jewel is also the person who makes it. Elizabeth designs and creates each piece herself, from the first idea to the moment it leaves her atelier.

This gives her the freedom to let a design evolve as she works. Proportions may shift or an unexpected detail may take the jewel in a new direction. Elizabeth enjoys leaving room for those moments rather than deciding everything in advance.

That same way of working makes personalisation a natural part of the atelier. Elizabeth can respond to individual wishes herself and shape a jewel with the person who will wear it in mind.

Elizabeth

Becoming a goldsmith was never part of the life she had imagined for herself. Until then, her career had been in the world of fashion and luxury. She had also built her own business, before serious illness unexpectedly changed the course of her life.

Several years later, during her recovery, she began learning to make jewellery. It was initially intended to support her rehabilitation, but she quickly became absorbed by the craft itself. She went on to train further as a goldsmith, discovering a direction she could never have imagined before her illness.
